Eyewitness Views: Charles Fleischer, the voice of Roger Rabbit, came to town Wednesday for a whirlwind, made-for-TV schmooze tour. In the morning, he was on Sun Up. At noon, he was at a press conference, during which deputy mayor Gloria McColl proclaimed Wednesday “Roger Rabbit Day.” As if responding to a cue, all three local TV stations ran with the “story,” featuring promo footage of the movie during their newscasts, which must have pleased the folks at Disney’s Touchstone Pictures, distributors of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” . . .

Cheesy Interview of the Week: Channel 39’s Cathy Clark interviewing fellow reporter Kim Devore as she got off the plane from Russia, where she had been with Mayor Maureen O’Connor’s arts finding delegation . . .

Off and on for the last three months, Channel 10 photographer Bob Lampert spent time with a police undercover operation in Logan Heights to gather some extraordinary footage. He shot dozens of drug transactions around the Memorial Recreation Center, many involving juveniles. The other stations were left to scramble for footage when the cops announced 44 arrests as a result of the undercover operation . . .

Time to rearrange the Saturday morning schedule. Beginning Saturday, KTTY-TV (Channel 69) will air a new locally produced show, “The Jewelry Lady,” weekly at 7 a.m. In what figures to be a scintillating half-hour of programming, Judy Rennert, described in a press release as “San Diego’s own television shopping personality,” will feature 30 minutes of “jewelry shopping values.” And people complain that there is not enough local programming.
