Dukakis Selects Vice President

In response to “With Bensten, Dukakis Wisely Bolsters the Center and Gains a Real Insider,” by Ross K. Baker, Op-Ed Page, July 13:
It is with sorrow that I must agree Dukakis was politically pragmatic in not choosing Jackson for vice president. It would be great to be able to think that this country is ready for a Greek President, a Jewish First Lady and a black vice president but, alas, it is not. My heart will not be in it, but anything to defeat George Bush. Once again I vote not for, but against.
