KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — A drawing of a space shuttle lifting off against a backdrop of a rainbow as a symbol of astronauts’ return to space is featured on the patch the five crew members will wear on the second post-Challenger shuttle flight.
A picture of the patch, sprinkled with seven stars to commemorate the memory of the seven crew members who died in the Challenger explosion on Jan. 28, 1986, was released Friday by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
