More than 2,700 gallons of sewage ran down the streets of Point Loma and into San Diego Bay on Thursday, county health officials said.
About 3:15 p.m., tree roots blocking a sewer line caused a manhole to overflow at Kellogg and San Elijo streets. The pipe was cleared and repaired by 4:45 p.m.
Signs warning bathers of contamination have been posted along Kellogg Beach and will remain there until the water has been tested to determine if it’s safe.
