Higson Runs Winning Total to 5 Races in Santa Clara International Swim Meet

SANTA CLARA — Alison Higson, 15, of Toronto, won her fourth individual race in three days and swam on a winning relay team Sunday in the Santa Clara International swimming meet.
Higson won the 200-meter medley in 2 minutes 18.71 seconds and joined Krissy Linehan, Moja Carter and Jane Kerr in taking the 400-meter medley in a meet record 4:14.65.
Eight meet records were set Sunday and one was tied. Linehan set a meet record in the 100-meter backstroke at 1:02.79 and Carter won the 200-meter butterfly in 2:14.21.
Gary Anderson broke his own meet record by winning the 200-meter individual medley in 2:05.28, Anthony Moose won the 200-meter butterfly in 1:59.84, and Sean Murphy won the 100-meter backstroke in 55.74.
Mark Tewksbury, John Cleveland, Tom Pointing and Mark Andrews of Calgary won the 400-meter medley in 3:47.30.
Mitzi Kremer of the Concord-Pleasant Hills club won the 800 meters in 8:44.31 and Anna Pettis-Scott of the Woodland Club won the 50 meters in 26.06.
Matt Biondi, a 1984 U.S. Olympian, won the 50 freestyle in 23.32 seconds.
