Meese Replacement Reported

WASHINGTON — President Reagan has chosen former Pennsylvania Gov. Richard Thornburgh to replace Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III, a knowledgeable administration source said today.
The source, who declined to be identified by name, said that Thornburgh, who once headed the Justice Department’s criminal division, had accepted the offer. Thornburgh is a Republican.
