More hospital waste, including vials of blood and syringes, hit Long Island’s Atlantic beaches, and officials declared them off-limits for swimmers just a few hours after they were reopened. It was the second day of the onslaught of the mysterious hospital garbage spreading along the popular barrier beaches stretching from New York City east to Fire Island’s affluent summer homes. Health officials were trying to discover where the waste was coming from and how it had been dumped.
