Police are seeking a man and woman in an armed robbery that netted more than $13,000 from a video rental store in the 2000 block of El Cajon Boulevard early Tuesday.
About 8:30 a.m. one of the bandits persuaded an employee of Video Library to allow him into the closed store by claiming that he and his companion had been in a car accident and needed to use the telephone. Once inside, the bandit produced a revolver and made the employee give him the contents of a strongbox containing the store’s weekend receipts. The robber then hit the employee in the face and tied him up with his own necktie.
There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the two thieves, who fled in a Volkswagen Rabbit.
San Diego police ask that anyone with information about the robbery call 235-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous.
