The Gay & Lesbian Community Services Center of Orange County will host an open house Sunday to celebrate the center’s move to larger facilities.
“We have moved only a short distance within our current office complex, but the center has come a long way to better meeting the needs of our community,” said Werner P. Kuhn, executive director of the center. “We have more than doubled our space, and we now have a new center that is especially planned for comfort, efficiency and multiple use by center programs and by the community.”
The open house is sponsored by the New Center Campaign Committee, a group of volunteers raising money and finding resources needed for the center.
“Moving to the new center facility in mid-May was only the first important step in achieving our goal of a fully professional facility the whole community can be proud of,” said Brad Bradford, committee chairman.
The committee has raised more than $51,000 in pledges and contributions toward its goal of $100,000 for new office equipment, fixtures and furniture. The committee is also recruiting 200 “movers and shakers” who will each pledge $200 a year for five years to help the center meet its increased rent and overhead expenses.
Live entertainment and hors d’oeuvres will be featured at the open house from 3 to 7 p.m.
The center’s new facilities are at 12832 Garden Grove Blvd., Suites A and B.
