Neil Young’s sarcastic new video, “This Note’s for You,” takes a few not-so-gentle digs at rock-star commercial pitchmen like Michael Jackson and Eric Clapton. But you won’t see the new clip on MTV, which has refused to air the video because the song’s lyrics mention commercial products like Coke and Pepsi. “It’s always been our policy not to air videos which show products or have lyrics which mention products, whether it’s meant as a spoof or not,” a MTV spokesman explained. Young’s clip, directed by vidmeister Julien Temple, shows a Michael Jackson impersonator being electrocuted during a Pepsi dance routine as well as a cuddly beach scene featuring bikini-clad beauties and a Spuds MacKenzie look-alike.
