Whites Not Allowed?

“That . . . Michael Jackson,” rock singer Joe Blow groused. “Who does he think he is? We’ve gotta stop him. He’s doing better on the pop charts than the white singers.”
Not a sentiment we like to hear in 1988, yet marginal performer Freddie Jackson is allowed to demonstrate overt racism in his quest for “money, money, money.”
The charts are supposed to represent the music, not the color of the performer. There should be no “purity of race” issue in modern popular music.
