Firefighters were working to contain a brush fire that charred more than 80 acres Thursday but caused no injuries or structural damage, the California Department of Forestry reported.
About 60 firefighters from the CDF and the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Department responded to the blaze just west of Del Dios, near Rancho Santa Fe, according to CDF spokesman Anton Provaznik.
Firefighters began battling the blaze at about 2:45 p.m. and called in three air tankers to drop borate, a fire retardant, along Del Dios Highway. The fire was expected to be contained by late Thursday night, officials said.
They said the fire may have begun at the Lemon Twist Stand at 8501 Del Dios Highway. The cause was under investigation.
