Secret U.S. Copter Ditches in Gulf

WASHINGTON — An Army special operations helicopter was forced to ditch in the Persian Gulf after encountering mechanical problems, Pentagon officials disclosed Friday.
The Thursday night incident, the first involving one of the secret MH-6 “Sea Bat” copters in the gulf, occurred during a routine patrol and did not involve any hostile fire, officials said.
Both crewmen escaped injury and were picked up later in good condition, the Pentagon said. The helicopter sank.
