A $5-million gift to UCLA from the Edwin W. Pauley Foundation has endowed a graduate fellowship program in the College of Letters and Arts and put the university’s 6-year-old academic fund-raising campaign over its $300-million goal, UCLA officials announced.
School officials said the $5 million was the largest single gift for graduate studies in UCLA history.
The gift will allow the school to attract “the students who would be choosing between UCLA and the other top universities--the Ivies, Stanford and UC Berkeley,” according to spokeswoman Karen Mack. Over 25 Pauley Foundation fellowships will be awarded annually, after Regents’ approval of the fund, she said.
