PISA, Italy — The famed leaning tower tilted another fraction of an inch in the past year, a rate that might cause the landmark to topple in about 100 years, an expert said Thursday.
Gero Geri of the University of Pisa said that since June, 1987, the tower has leaned 0.05 inches.
The 180-foot tower, completed between 1360 and 1370, is now leaning 14.6 feet off the vertical.
