Boating Help
Having “survived” the Memorial Day weekend on our boat at the isthmus at Santa Catalina Island, my husband and I have more than a few kind words for the hard-working, dedicated people employed by the Catalina Cove and Camp Agency and the Los Angeles County lifeguards. They worked nonstop around the clock. The island harbors were full of boats and almost every boater felt he had some sort of emergency. Real or imagined each mariner was accorded courteous assistance under harrowing conditions . . . gale-force winds, moorings pulled out of place, anchor lines dragging and/or breaking.
