Joel Wolfe led a group of four Chatsworth High players selected to the All-City Section 4-A Division baseball team chosen by a panel of sportswriters.
The senior third baseman batted .406 and had 29 runs batted in and was named City 4-A Player of the Year. He has signed a letter of intent with UCLA and was taken in the 30th round of the free-agent draft by the Seattle Mariners.
He was joined on the 17-player team by fellow Chancellors Rex McMackin, who is a senior outfielder, and pitchers Pierre Amado and Derek Wallace.
Monroe, the City champion, was represented by senior shortstop Brian Eldridge and junior first baseman Tim Costic, whose selection marked a departure from recent custom. Costic was a Mid-Valley League second-team selection, and previously only first-team all-league picks were considered for the All-City team.
Other Valley selections were Canoga Park’s Mike Kerber (catcher) and Adam Schulhofer (outfielder); San Fernando’s Josh Bergara (outfielder) and Albert Torres (shortstop); El Camino Real’s Ryan McGuire (first baseman); Kennedy’s Brian Roth (utility); and Poly’s Greg Nealon (pitcher).
