Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega denounced a planned visit to Central America by Secretary of State George P. Shultz as a fresh attempt to pressure his left-wing Sandinista government. Ortega complained that Shultz’s trip was “not a good sign for peace†because Managua was excluded from the itinerary. “Shultz should come to Nicaragua if he really is interested in solving the problem,†Ortega said in a talk in Managua. The State Department said last week that on his June 29-July 1 trip, Shultz would consult with the leaders of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Costa Rica about Nicaragua.
