The World : Israelis Wound 3 Arabs
Three Arab youths were shot and wounded in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, two of them in separate clashes with Israeli soldiers and the other by an Israeli civilian who opened fire to disperse stone-throwing youths, according to an army spokesman and hospital officials. At the same time, Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, eulogizing an Israeli farmer whose death was blamed on Arabs, urged Israelis to harden their stand against the Palestinian uprising. “We will not abandon the land because the murderers want it,†Shamir told the mourners. The death of Eli Cohen, 33, has aroused calls for harsh action against the 6 1/2-month uprising. Israel Radio said thousands attended the funeral at Givat Ada, a farming community in the north.
