Passings : Joseph J. Micciche; Publicity Director
Joseph J. Micciche, public relations director for Howard Jarvis’ Proposition 13 campaign a decade ago and the longtime public address announcer for USC football games, has died of heart failure in a Los Angeles hospital.
Micciche, who also was director of public relations for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors from 1947 to 1955, was 81 when he died Friday.
His firm was founded in the 1930s at the Biltmore Hotel and he remained active in his field for more than 40 years.
He also held several civic posts, among them Civil Defense director for the city from 1957 to 1961 and as president of UNICO National, the largest Italian-American service organization in the country.
A Rosary and funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today at St. Victor’s Church in West Hollywood.
