Obituaries : J. Chandler; Veteran TV, Movie Actor

James Chandler, a longtime television and movie character actor who starred in TV’s 1957 police thriller “Tracer,” has died of lung cancer at the age of 66, it was learned Tuesday.
Chandler, who played Inspector Regan in the single-season series, died at his home in San Francisco on June 14.
A spokesman for Commercials Unlimited Inc. in Los Angeles, for which Chandler made many television commercials, said he had moved to San Francisco, his native city, several months ago.
The spokesman said the distinguished-looking character actor was a veteran television spokesman for Weavers, a packaged chicken company. Films he was seen in include “Jumbo,” “Sweet Bird of Youth” and “Heaven With a Gun.”
Movies the UC Berkeley graduate made for television include “Man From Atlantis,” “Sky Hei$t,” “Savages,” “The Stranger” and “Travis Logan, D.A.”
