A former Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, who pleaded guilty last February to embezzling $59,000 by claiming 1,256 hours of false overtime, has been placed on four years’ probation.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Horowitz also ordered Willard Burney, 41, to pay full restitution and to perform 500 hours of community service. A five-year member of the department, Burney worked in the County Jail.
