What do you do if you’ve got a TV series that you think is worthy of Emmy Award consideration but hasn’t been on the air for nearly three months?

If you’re Viacom Productions, you lease time on three Los Angeles cable-TV systems and then take out full-page ads in the Hollywood trade papers to alert members of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences that they can tune in to see uninterrupted episodes of “Frank’s Place.â€

“It was just a way to refresh people’s memories,†said Keith Pierce, director of comedy programming for Viacom, who revived the idea of using select cable outlets to reach industry workers who will soon receive Emmy ballots.

CBS approved the plan, which called for four episodes of “Frank’s Place†to air Monday and Tuesday night on Century Cable, Cablevision and American Cable.

“Frank’s Place,†a first-year series set in a New Orleans restaurant, was renewed for next season despite low ratings.
