UCLA’s national titles in golf and outdoor track and field, and top 10 finishes in three other sports helped the school earn the Knoxville Journal’s national collegiate all-sports championship for the third straight year.
UCLA earned 88 points to easily outdistance the field. Runner-up Texas was 19 points behind. Others: Oklahoma, 68; Louisiana State, 66 1/2; Arizona State, 65; Arizona, 63 1/2; Michigan, 60 1/2; Clemson, 59 1/2; Florida and USC, 55 1/2 points each.
