The New Jersey Boxing Board of Control ruled Monday that next Monday night’s Mike Tyson-Michael Spinks heavyweight title fight at Atlantic City, N.J., will be scheduled for 12 rounds.

In the controversy that evolved in recent weeks over the length of the fight, the International Boxing Federation wanted 15 rounds but both the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Assn. sought a 12-round fight. Tyson’s manager, Bill Cayton, also wanted 12 rounds.

IBF President Robert W. Lee has said if the fight is scheduled for 12 rounds, Tyson will be stripped of his title.
