Local News in Brief : 2 Men Held in Robbery of Armored-Car Guard

Two men were arrested Monday in the robbery of an armored-car guard inside a North Hollywood market last week, police said.

Police would not say if any of the $15,000 taken in the robbery was recovered.

Michael J. Noble, 36, of Newbury Park, was arrested in the parking lot of the Brentwood Motor Inn, 199 N. Church Lane, about 1 p.m., said Lt. Bruce Meyer of the Los Angeles Police Department. Noble was being held without bail on suspicion of robbery.

Robert Jackson, 53, of North Hollywood, was arrested in the same motel parking lot about 4 p.m., Meyer said. Jackson was being held at the Parker Center Jail on $16,000 bail, Meyer said.

Noble had a gunshot wound in his right leg, which police believe he received during an exchange of gunfire with the armored-car guard inside Gelson’s Market in the 4700 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. Noble was taken to the jail ward of the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. No bail was set because Noble is accused of violating parole for a previous offense, Meyer said.

Patricia Barnscomb, 43, was arrested with Noble on a misdemeanor narcotics warrant, Meyer said. She was being held on $5,000 bail in the Police Department’s Valley Services Division jail in Van Nuys.

Meyer said $15,000 was taken in the incident, but he would not say whether police recovered any of the money. The suspects were arrested without incident, he said.

Police also are seeking other suspects, Meyer said.
