Poway
About 50 firefighting units from throughout San Diego County responded to a general-alarm brush fire in Poway Monday afternoon, according to San Diego Fire Department spokesman Larry Cooke.
The fire blackened 112 acres south of Garden Road but caused no injuries or structural damage, Cooke said.
The nearly 200 firefighters, who began battling the blaze about 3:15 p.m. were able to keep the flames from 12 homes that were feared threatened by the fire.
The fire, which moved southeast toward Sycamore Canyon Road, was contained by about 5:15 p.m., Cooke said.
