Scott Runs 1:50 in 800 Meters at Balboa Meet

Olympian Steve Scott of Fallbrook won the 800-meter run in 1 minute 50 seconds at the San Diego Track Club all-comers meet at Balboa Stadium Saturday, breaking the all-comers record of 1:52 set by Sam Sawney.
Michael Stevenson of Morse High won the 200 in 22.4, and Leo Williams won the high jump by clearing 6-feet 10-inches.
Scott, Stevenson and Williams are scheduled to compete in the Michelob Invitational at Balboa Saturday.
Carole Denton won the 1,500 in 5:12.64 and the 3,000 in 11:24.08.
The next all-comers meet is July 23.
BASKETBALL
Former UC San Diego standout John Saint Ignon scored 32 points as defending champion The Crown beat Good Judgment, 106-97, in the first round of the 10-round Supreme Court San Diego pro-am tournament at the La Jolla Jewish Community Center.
Dondi Bell of the University of San Diego scored 24 for Good Judgment. In another game, former Grossmont High School player Kerry McIntyre scored 27 points as Unpretentious beat Courageous Endurance, 117-112.
VOLLEYBALL
Former San Diego State stars Sue Hegerle and Angelica Jackson helped Reebok to a second-place finish in the U.S. Volleyball Association women’s open national championship Saturday night in Salt Lake City.
Hegerle was named an honorable mention All-American, and Jackson made the all-rookie team after Reebok lost to the Chrysler Californians of San Jose, 3 games to 1, in the title match.
