The supporters of Measure A will no doubt blame the developer-financed campaign against it for its defeat. They’re wrong.
Experience proves that no amount of money will defeat a measure that accurately reflects the will of the people. Measure A was defeated because it was flawed and dangerous and because its supporters exaggerated its benefits.
Once the people learned it would not help traffic--once they had learned that they had been lied to--they voted rightly against Measure A.
Now let’s get on with a sensible plan to manage the few bad side effects of our healthy, growing economy.
