Local News in Brief : Sex Charge on Officer
A Los Angeles County sheriff’s sergeant was charged Friday with forcing a waitress to have sex with him while he was on duty in exchange for his promise not to write her a traffic ticket, officials said.
Sgt. Patrick Brown, 41, an 18-year veteran, was charged by the district attorney’s office with one felony count each of oral copulation and soliciting a bribe.
The charges stem from an investigation of allegations by a 25-year-old waitress at a Rowland Heights bar that she was stopped on three separate occasions by Brown, who allegedly “granted her leniency on traffic violations in return for sexual favors,†Sheriff’s Deputy Kathryn Nielsen said.
Brown, who had been assigned to the Walnut sheriff’s station, was relieved of duty March 2 and reassigned pending the outcome of the investigation, Nielsen said.
