A suspect was arrested Friday on suspicion of the Monday slaying of a transient whose body was found under Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach.
Robert Anthony Francis, 24, was taken into custody without incident near the Food Basket supermarket on Mission Boulevard, a block from the pier, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
The victim has been identified as Bennie Blythers, who was stabbed to death.
Francis, identified by police as a transient, was pointed out by a witness to an argument under the pier that preceded the victim’s death.
Francis was booked into County Jail downtown on suspicion of murder.
