The Cerritos City Council tonight is expected to adopt a $90-million budget for 1988-89 which is much the same as this year’s.
Redevelopment Agency capital projects claim the greatest amount, $49.5 million. The agency’s major budget items include $7 million for the planned Community Arts Center in the Towne Center development, $1.8 million for an outdoor sports complex, about $7 million for road construction associated with Towne Center, $570,000 for construction of a freeway sound buffer wall on Windjammer Road, $5.5 million for expansion of the local auto mall, and $2.3 million for the expansion of Liberty Park. The agency’s budget also includes $9.4 million for operations and maintenance.
The city’s portion of the budget, $31 million, includes $8.5 million for personnel, $17 million for operations and maintenance, and $5.3 million for capital projects.
Many of the Redevelopment Agency’s construction projects are being carried over from last year, when the combined city-agency budget amounted to $89.9 million.
