PARIS — France resumed diplomatic relations with Iran today, fulfilling a pledge made in a deal for release of the last three French hostages in Lebanon. Ties between the two countries were broken 11 months ago.
Announcements made in both Paris and Tehran said ambassadors will be exchanged soon. How far France went to meet conditions set by Iran for re-establishment of relations was not clear immediately. Ten French hostages have been freed at intervals over a two-year period of fitful negotiations.
