A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg from a passing car near John Kennedy High School in Granada Hills Tuesday afternoon, Los Angeles police said.
The teen-ager was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills following the 3 p.m. shooting, Sgt. Frank Reynoso said. He said the boy, shot once in the left calf, was treated and released.
Reynoso said the victim was shot from what was described as a light-blue Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a dark vinyl top as he and a friend stood in the 11200 block of Gothic Avenue near the high school.
Reynoso said the victim’s friend called police from a nearby convenience store.
“We believe it was gang-related,” Reynoso said of the shooting.
