A woman suspected of drunk driving was arrested after a car crash that left one child dead and eight injured, authorities said. The California Highway Patrol said Margaret Mary Corella, 29, of Gilroy was arrested after her Mercury Bobcat veered off Watsonville Road west of Gilroy and struck another car. She was being held at Santa Clara County women’s jail in Milpitas for investigation of drunk driving, causing an injury accident and a death, officers said. One of Corella’s passengers, 33-month-old Jesus Palacios, died at Stanford University Medical Center. George Palacios, 8, was in stable condition after suffering a broken hip and abdominal injuries. Seven other Palacios children, ranging in age from 3 to 10, were treated and released. “It’s unbelievable so many were in one little car,” CHP spokesman Ron Chaffee said.
