Hollywood Park Fans Bet $1.2 Million on Belmont and Get More in Return
Fans at Hollywood Park and its satellite betting sites wagered more than $1.2 million on Saturday’s Belmont Stakes and also collected payoffs that were consistently larger than those paid at the New York track.
A total of $1,233,004 was bet on the third leg of the Triple Crown at and through Hollywood Park, including $811,820 wagered at the track itself. The amount was a Hollywood Park record for the Belmont.
Belmont winner Risen Star paid $7.40, $4.20 and $3.00 at Hollywood Park, compared to $6.20, $4.80 and $2.80 in New York. Second-place Kingpost paid $14 and $5, compared to $11 and $3.80 at Belmont Park. Only Brian’s Time paid the same amount in both places, $2.60 for his third-place finish.
The 5-4 exacta paid $135 at Hollywood Park, compared to $108.20 in New York.
