Not only can you rent “Platoon” at your local video store, but now you can actually participate in the drama of combat via a new video game. Sunsoft’s “Platoon,” designed for the Nintendo Entertainment System, has players jumping over bullets, running through mazes of underbrush and dodging Viet Cong jumping out of trees. The game will keep track of how many times you’ve been shot and your ammunition supply. An additional feature is the “morale meter,” which will drop if you kill an innocent villager. The game is due in stores in September and will cost $40. Other inspirations for video games include “Friday the 13th” and “Nightmare on Elm Street,” both due in 1989.
