Woody Woodward, hired as vice president of player personnel for the Philadelphia Phillies seven months ago, was fired and replaced by Ray Shore, the last-place club’s chief scout.
Phillie President Bill Giles also fired Jim Baumer, the team’s director of player development and scouting. Paul Owens, Philadelphia’s former general manager and manager, will replace Baumer.
Giles said both replacements are temporary and that he intends to fill the posts with different people.
