A man went on a rampage while driving a road grader at Chino Airport and badly damaged at least three planes before he was shot and wounded by police and sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.
Randy LaComb, 37, of Anaheim, was shot several times below the waist, investigators said. LaComb, who will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, was airlifted to a San Bernardino hospital where he was in stable condition.
Police and sheriff’s deputies on the ground and a sheriff’s deputy in a helicopter opened fire on LaComb after he ran into the side of a building housing Flight Craft, a business that gives flight lessons and refuels planes.
The motive for LaComb’s actions was not immediately known.
