Zimbabwe police said 113 rebels surrendered under an amnesty that guarantees immunity from prosecution. Officials called the amnesty a success. “I cannot think of any dissidents still remaining in the bush,” Home Minister Moven Mahachi said, noting that an estimated 100 to 120 rebels were at large before President Robert Mugabe announced the amnesty April 19. Among those who surrendered was Zimbabwe’s most wanted man, a former guerrilla who deserted the army and allegedly led a gang that killed 16 white missionaries and family members six months ago.
