A mild earthquake shook the Southern California desert, but there were no reports of damage or injuries. The quake, which measured 3.4 on the Richter scale, struck about 18 miles northwest of Palm Springs, said Hall Daily, a spokesman for the Caltech Seismology Laboratory in Pasadena.
