The Performing Arts Center also will get a big boost from the Orange County division of First Interstate Bank, which is the primary sponsor for the third annual fund-raising triathlon.
The June 5 event is called a sprint triathlon because the 1.5-mile swim in Lake Mission Viejo, the 35-kilometer bicycle race and the 10-kilometer run are shorter than the typical triathlon distances.
The local division of the bank also will donate $50,000 to the center.
The bank expects 1,300 individual participants and 150 three-person relay teams to compete. Registration fees are $48 for individuals, $90 for independent teams and $300 for corporate-sponsored teams.
