Deere & Co.’s profit jumped 145% to $86.4 million in the second quarter, helped by improvement in its farm sector. The Moline, Ill.-based tractor and heavy machinery maker said sales in the quarter jumped 27% to $1.45 billion. The company said higher prices and cutting costs at some of its manufacturing facilities helped boost earnings.
