The Soviet government has asked the Moscow bureau chief of U.S. News & World Report to co-anchor a Soviet television talk show Friday night, the magazine has announced. Jeff Trimble, who has served in his present post since August, 1986, will appear on “Vzglad” (Viewpoint), a news magazine-styled program aimed at the 35-and-under market. The program will focus on the U.S.-Soviet summit, scheduled for next Sunday. Trimble replaced Nicholas Daniloff, whom Soviet secret police arrested in 1986. He was released after one month’s detention as part of a negotiated settlement involving U.S. and Soviet officials.
