When Teachers Go Out on Strike
My name is Suzanne Brownell. I am 9 years old and in the fourth grade. My teacher is Mrs. Mershon. She is on strike.
My dad is a teacher too. He is angry when he comes home. He doesn’t like the strike. The reasons the board of education should give teachers more money are because they spend a lot of their own time working on extra projects, like plays, student council, helping kids after and before school and putting up bulletin boards.
This does not mean they want a big raise, just one that shows that teachers are important. People don’t know how much teachers do for students.
I hate the strike. Please sign a contract and get this over with. Teachers mean a lot to me. I wish they were all happy.
