REGAN REDUX

Robert Scheer’s review of Donald Regan’s book, “For the Record,” was based on a false premise, i.e., that Regan wrote the book for personal financial profit. No, Robert, there was no “lucrative deal.” The entire proceeds (and advance) have been slated for charity. You might have known that if you read the paper with a clear eye and head and not through whatever personal need you have for protecting the First Lady.

Editor’s note: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich has confirmed to The Times that Donald T. Regan is being paid his royalties in the usual way, though Regan has stated that he intends to contribute them to charity later.
