Southern Section Tennis Playoffs : Foothill Sweeps Past Mission Viejo

Jeff Giesea swept his singles sets as Foothill High School defeated Mission Viejo, 11-7, Friday in the second round of the Southern Section 4-A tennis playoffs.
Giesea won, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0. The Knights’ No. 1 doubles team of Dana Eiseman and Jeff Gilstrap also swept, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.
Billy Smith won two of three singles matches, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1, for Mission Viejo (7-15).
In other 4-A matches:
Canyon 9, Diamond Bar 9 (Canyon advances on games, 86-75)--Ilkyung Choi swept, 6-4, 6-2, 6-0, and Jason DeFalco won two of three sets, 3-6, 6-0, 6-0, to lead host Canyon (22-0), the fourth-seeded team in the playoffs.
Dana Hills 16, Redlands 2--Ben Stevens swept his singles sets, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, to lead host Dana Hills (18-3). The Dolphins, seeded No. 1, won all nine doubles sets.
Fountain Valley 12, Long Beach Wilson 6--No. 1 doubles team Brian Winterstein and Colby Morita swept their matches, 6-3, 6-4, 6-1, to lead the Barons (18-3) at home.
In 5-A Division quarterfinals:
Santa Barbara 15, University 3--Santa Barbara won 8 of 9 singles sets for a victory at University. Steve Lappin and Aaron Bartz won 2 of 3 doubles sets, 6-2, 6-2, 1-6, for University (15-7).
Corona del Mar 10, Palos Verdes 8--Corona del Mar won 8 of 9 doubles sets at Palos Verdes. Rich Han-Doug Schulein swept, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4, and Bob Etebar-Jared Mannion won, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 for Corona del Mar (14-8).
In 2-A Division:
Valencia 15, San Dimas 3--Eric Flint and Colin Robinson won, 6-0, 6-2, 6-0 to lead host Valencia (20-2). Danny Yu was the top singles player for No. 2-seeded Valencia, winning, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0.
