High school championship events in track, volleyball and diving are scheduled today in several Southern California locations.
The Southern Section Reebok/Round Table Track Championships will be held at Cerritos College, beginning at 11 a.m. About 1,450 athletes, representing four high school divisions, are expected to compete.
Competitors qualified for today’s meet at intra-divisional preliminaries held last weekend. Athletes with the top nine marks in each event will advance to The Masters meet, next weekend at Cerritos College.
Tonight, the Southern Section Reebok West Coast Netting Boys Volleyball High School Championship finals will be held at Westminster High School.
Loyola of Los Angeles, which has won the 3-A volleyball title four of the past five years, will attempt to win the 4-A championship in its first year in a higher division. Loyola’s match against Newport Harbor begins at 8 p.m. The 3-A division match between Arcadia and Glendale begins at 6 p.m.
Also today, the City Section high school diving championships will be held at the Belmont Plaza pool in Long Beach. The meet begins at noon.
