Republicans Maintain Bulge in Registration

Republicans continue to outnumber Democrats registered to vote in Orange County, according to figures released Friday by the county registrar of voters.
As of May 9, there were 563,039 registered Republicans compared to 366,883 registered Democrats, Assistant Registrar of Voters Don Taylor said.
Those figures actually represent a drop of more than 10,000 registered Republicans and more than 3,000 registered Democrats carried on the voter rolls March 5, Taylor said. But the difference is primarily the result of purging the registration rolls of voters who have moved or died since the March count.
Taylor predicted that the number of registered voters would be back to March 5 levels by the November general election.
