A 40-year-old woman who died Thursday in a single-car accident has been identified by police as Anita Lyttle of Santa Ana.
Lyttle died after her car slammed into a concrete seawall on Balboa Island, police said. She was the sole occupant of a 1985 Pontiac Grand Am which had been traveling east along the South Bay Front alley near the Grand Canal when it hit the 3-inch-thick seawall, police said.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene and transported her to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation, police said Friday.
